A Letter From Our CEO: New Name, New Look, & An Expanded Mission

After 20 years leading software companies and hiring over 1,000 people, I realized there had to be a better way to build great teams. In fact, when I read all the research, I couldn't believe that only 50% of people hired stay in their roles for more than a year. This is a huge problem that costs businesses billions of dollars annually. It’s a problem we’re determined to fix, so we’re building on the great work from the Luma team and launching as Pillar to revolutionize a process that hasn’t changed in decades, and desperately needs to. 

What Is Pillar? 

Pillar is an interview intelligence platform that helps teams hire faster, better, and more equitably. Pillar records and transcribes interviews and uses AI to generate highlight reels and recommend top candidates so teams can easily and equitably compare candidates’ answers and experiences. Our platform provides coaching and in-interview guidance for teams to ensure quality interviews and deliver great candidate experiences. Pillar helps companies save time and money on costly hires while instilling confidence in hiring teams across entire organizations.

What Pillar Stands For

The name Pillar personifies how people are as essential to an organization as pillars are to a building, providing critical support and raising it to new heights. The upward momentum you’ll notice in our new logo better reflects our new mission, and that’s to help our customers “grow better with every hire”.

We believe that people are the most important part of a business and our goal at Pillar is to help businesses build better teams while providing a more efficient, effective, and equitable hiring process...enabling the best people to rise to the top, uncovering the right candidates faster, and removing bias within interviews.

Even though we’re in our early stages as a company, we’ve already enabled thousands of better interviews for our customers and for candidates. As we help businesses grow their teams, we’re building a coaching network for team members to improve their interviewing skills. A more coordinated and intelligent interview process leads to a better candidate experience while speeding up the time to hire.

Most importantly, I would like to say thank you to the many people who have come together to make Pillar such a success to date. I feel lucky and honored to be surrounded by an amazing group of people who show up every day, always willing to do whatever it takes to help our customers build better teams. Thank you to each and every one of you in your continued commitment to solving a very big and a very human problem. 

I’m also appreciative of our many early customers who have trusted us with helping them to hire better with confidence and who continuously provide feedback on how we can improve Pillar for all hiring teams.

While we’ve come so far over the last 18 months, we have a very exciting road ahead of us. Pillar was built on the belief that people are the most important ingredient to a company’s success, and we are extremely grateful to play a role in helping teams “grow better with every hire”.
